Non-Profit FAQ

How does the Club define a Non-Profit?

Globally, governments define Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) in their respective countries. WSC honors those designations. However, in general terms, an NPO is an organization that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without a profit motive. All money earned by or donated to the organization is used in pursuing the objectives of the NPO.

What are the most common NPOs?

  • Youth Groups
  • Charitable Organizations
  • Community Associations
  • Cultural Groups
  • Education
  • Food Banks
  • Health Services
  • Hospital Foundations
  • Religious Organizations
  • Services Clubs
  • Sports Associations
  • Chamber of Commerce
  • Board of Trade
  • Associations

Who is the WSC?

WSC is a private, not-for-profit, Membership Club with no hierarchy, no paid staff, and all Members are equal and have the same rights as the Club’s co-Founders. The WSC does no commerce. Also, there is no requirement to recruit others to join the Club. Our purpose is to support our Members, Merchants and NPOs to create community prosperity.

What is an Active Member?

An active Member pays their Membership Fee each month and generates a minimum $10USD in personal-shopping Rebates from shopping at WSC Merchants.

How do you generate cash-back Rebates?

Simply redirect some of your monthly spending towards WSC Merchants – not additional money, just money you spend anyway.
For example: by purchasing groceries, dining at restaurants, getting a haircut, going to a local coffeehouse, hiring a plumber or a window cleaner – Members redeem cash-back Rebates while shopping local.
Shopping at WSC Merchants supports small businesses who struggle to survive with the competition of the big-box stores. Wherever you live, your dollars spent at local small businesses stay in the community helping them to thrive.
It is easy!
Invite your supporters to JOIN SHOP REDEEM and they invite others to JOIN SHOP REDEEM!
The simple act of shopping with WSC Merchants provides your supporters with cash-back Rebates to create a better life for Members, AND provides your organization with passive cash flow and no donor burnout.

Why are NPOs required to join as an entity?

Rebates continually flow to the entity, as it is the top priority
For example, a pastor signs up his church as an NPO. The pastor may join as one of the church`s 3 supporters. If the pastor leaves the church, Rebates will continue to flow to the NPO. It continues to enjoy the advantages from the Rebates generated from the shopping of all its Member supporters. The pastor, who is an active Member, will also continue to receive their share of cash-back Rebates.

Why is the NPO required to have 3 supporters join when it joins the Club?

By joining as an entity with 3 supporters (Members) at the same time, your NPO will have completed its Shopping Circle and begin the generation of Rebates by the NPO's active Members.
The NPO may directly invite more than 3 supporters to join as Members. It's a good idea for NPOs to invite 5-6 additional Members, should one or two not be active in a given month. This ensures a Membership Fee Credit to receive free Membership Fees each month.
As your supporters invite others who also become active members and see their Rebates accelerate, your NPO also receives accelerating Rebates and increased passive fundraising for your mission.

How does a Non-Profit join?

The Club requires specific information such as Registration and Business Number, name of the authorized representative, etc.
The NPO designates an authorized representative of the NPO to fill in the online NPO application. At the discretion of the NPO, the designate can be a board member, staff member, volunteer etc. On behalf of the NPO, the representative agrees that the NPO will comply with WSC Policies & Procedures.

How long is the NPO Membership in effect?

The NPO Membership is in place for as long as the NPO desires.

What is the difference between a NPO Member and other Members?

The NPO is an entity not a person and becomes a Member for fundraising purposes.

Is there a difference between Members who join in support of a NPO and those who join without a NPO?

Members who join with their NPO will know that their Rebates are making a difference for themselves and the organization they support.
There is no difference as far as their Club activity is concerned: both pay Membership Fees, both shop at WSC Merchants and both redeem Rebates.

What does the Club provide the NPO upon joining?

The following is included in your NPO Membership:
  • A Welcome email with the NPO’s WSC Membership ID – issued when someone completes the NPO Member Application.
  • A digital WSC Membership Card and QR Code to track your WSC Merchant purchases, should the NPO choose to shop at WSC Merchants, although not required.
  • The NPO`s own replicated WSC website to help invite friends, family and other supporters to join the Club.
  • Internet login to your WSC website Dashboard to monitor Club activities, Rebates and your Membership.
  • Access to Club resources such as videos and webinars.
  • Access to the Digital Clubhouse and Chat Room to connect with fellow Members
  • Club meetings and events.
  • Residual Rebates generated from its supporters’ personal shopping and the shopping of their fellow Members.
  • The NPO participates in the Global Rebate Pool.

Can NPOs invite the small businesses that we already support to join as WSC Merchants?

Absolutely!  More places to shop = more Rebates for your NPO, and more customers for their local business to help your community thrive.

How easy is this to implement?

The Club has NPO-specific materials for download which NPOs can use. This will make it effortless for NPOs to promote WSC to your supporters.

What other tools are available to help the NPO's Members understand more about the Club?

Notification of webinars, updates and events are posted in the Digital Clubhouse, to which all Members have access. Webinars are a great way to introduce friends anywhere in the world to the many advantages of a WSC membership.

Should an NPO appoint a WSC coordinator in their organization?

While not required, it would be a good idea to have someone to field general questions explaining your NPO’s participation in the Club, monitor the NPO's Rebates, etc.

Can NPOs use social media as a communication tool?

NPOs may use Facebook; Twitter etc. to promote your participation in the Club’s fundraising program to your supporters, utilizing WSC-approved materials and videos.

What is the cost for an NPO to join?

By joining as an entity with 3 supporters (Members) at the same time, your NPO will have completed its Shopping Circle and begin the generation of Rebates by the NPO's active Members.
The NPO may directly invite more than 3 supporters to join as Members. It's a good idea for NPOs to invite 5-6 additional Members, should one or two not be active in a given month. This ensures a Membership Fee Credit to receive free Membership Fees each month.

How does the NPO receive their Rebates?

NPOs have the option to receive their Rebates in Mercatorcoin (XMC, the digital currency used by the Club). This is a choice the NPO will need to decide for itself. Just like WSC Members, NPOs may receive XMC and convert it to fiat currency once the Coinbase exchange is available in the near future
If the NPO prefers to receive Rebates in fiat currency, they will need to open an account with SolidTrust Pay, the payment processor used by the Club.

Is the NPO required to issue income-tax receipts to their Members?

No tax receipts issuance is required as there is no taxable benefit from rebates generated.

Can an NPO forecast the monthly Rebates that it can expect to receive?

The Rebates redeemed are based on the number of Members in your Shopping Group and the volume of shopping they do at WSC Merchants during the current month. These Rebates can fluctuate from month to month. You can log into your NPO`s WSC Dashboard to monitor the Rebates generated in any given month.
A calculator was created for the purpose of forecasting one’s Rebates. The calculator can be found in the Resource Center in the NPO's dashboard. While the number is simply a projection of what could happen and doesn’t mean it will happen, it nonetheless is a fine tool to help set goals and plan for greater Rebates.

Can the NPO shop and generate Rebates?

It is not required for the NPO, however an authorized representative of the NPO can shop at WSC Merchants by presenting the NPO’s Membership Card or QR Code to track the purchases and redeem cash-back Rebates from the shopping. It’s a great way to support your community.
